An orphaned Eevee's tale 5
As she woke up, Eevee felt the bottom of the boat touch shore. She hopped off the boat with her things in a small burlap sack which was also left in the boat. She sighed. "Ok... back on land. Now I just have to look for someone kind enough to take us in." Eevee said, facing the goldfish pokemon peeking up through the surface. "Right. I'll stay here since..you know.." Goldeen assured. They shared a nod before Eevee scampered off to a nearby area known as the Lakeside hotel.
She looked around, towing her bag along. She noticed a series of homes and smiled. "Here we go." She said to herself scampering up to the first house then pawed at the door. "Hello?? Anyone home??" she called out. A tall red haired woman opened the door. "Um d-down here." 'Vee eevee eev' The human followed the sound and noticed the fluffy pokemon on her door step. There is only so much loss
that a fighting force can sustain
and still fight.
Pilot Claude Archer was the first
to challenge his invalid discharge.
"I don't need legs to fly," he said,
patting the healed stumps of his thighs.
"My Osprey runs on elbow grease."
The members of the discharge board
paused and looked at each other.
What he said was true.
The Osprey-class fighter jets
relied on hand controls,
and a sharp eye and iron nerve.
Fingers flicked through the stack
of discharge papers -- so many, many pages.
So many soldiers lost, never to fight again.
They could not afford to let slip even one
who might be retained, somehow,
to face the front line once more.
Far less could the war effort spare
one of its best pilots.
So they put Pilot Archer back on the roster,
