A Slice of Life - Pt. 5
A few minutes later on Aquari Coast, the gang had arrived on the scene, surprised and saddened to see many aquatic and beachgoing Pokemon laying on the sand and shoreline in an incredibly weakened state. "What in the world happened?" River asked, her mouth agape and her hands covering it. Ruiha sniffed the air.........and then coughed hard. "Ugh! We're gonna need masks! It's red tide!" "Blugh! You're right! It reeks! Everyone get back!" Nicole gagged, almost throwing up the ice cream she had finished. {{ Red tide? What's that? }} Aqua asked. "Basically it's WAY too much algae that depletes oxygen and releases toxic gas into the air. It's bad for both Pokemon AND humans!" Nicole explained through her covered mouth. Ruiha yanked open her small Ranger pack. "Fortunately we're always prepared for something like this." She pulled out four white facemasks and held them out to the others. "Here. These are rated N95. They should work for us for a while." River took hers and pulled the

A few hours later, River and Nicole were walking the streets of Majestad City - heading for a large park where trainers were known to gather - in order to see if anyone knew anything about the fake stones and where they were coming from. "I'm kind of surprised Hilda agreed to help us out and stick with Ruiha," River said. "But four heads are better than three, right?" {{ You mean, six, right? }} Vappy nipped at River's sock. {{ Don't forget about us! }} Nicole chuckled. "Well I would imagine she didn't just come to battle. Beya's been getting tons of trainers from all over lately." {{ I'd say Hilda's seeing you as a bit of a rival now that you beat her, }} Aqua grinned. {{ That girl seriously loves battling. }} "It does seem that way, right?" Nicole answered, turning to River. "So what are we asking the trainers? Just if they know anything about the fake mega stones?" "I think we show off Aria and Sonata and casually ask about Mega Evolution. Maybe someone knows something, or

...And so, about fifteen minutes later, a bunch of onlookers and trainers were gathered in a large, well distanced circle around Nicole and Hilda, who stood across from each other with Ruiha sitting in a lifeguard chair looking down over the impromptu "battlefield," with a circle and a center line drawn in the sand. "All right," Ruiha called out. "This will be a first to two wins battle! Each trainer gets three Pokemon to choose from! Standing to this side, we have from the Unova region, renowned Trainer and hero who defeated Team Plasma........Hilda!" Everyone cheered. "And from right here in Beya, renowned marine biologist and protector of our Pokemon and environment..........Nicole Porter!" The cheers got louder. "You've got this, Nicole!" River called out. "Show her what you're made of!" {{ River's right, sis. We can do it. I believe in you and I know the others do too! }} Aqua encouraged. Nicole nodded and took a deep breath, focusing herself. "There is no time limit! Let

The next morning, the chirps of retreating Kricketune and peeps of rising Pidgey and Hawtchling were joined by the yawns of both Vappy and Aqua, waking up before their trainers as always. Vappy sniffed at the air and her ears perked straight up. {{ Fresh Kelpsy berry jam! }} She took off through the slightly ajar bedroom door like a rocket. Aqua just sweat dropped as she watched the trail of smoke and dust fade through the slightly open door. {{ Good morning to you too... }} The Vaporeon was about to follow when she felt something on her back. Aqua just giggled as she realized Dewdrop had wandered into the house and into Nicole's room all the way from the backyard ocean overnight just for some company. {{ You haven't changed a bit, little one. }} The Phione's reply was a conveniently timed chuckle from Dreamland. River had fallen asleep with her sketchbook beside her, the drawing of Aqua sleeping only two-thirds finished on the open page. She hugged the pillow tighter and sighed

{{ I have to hand it to your mom, Aqua, }} Vappy said as she stretched out her paws, {{ This new pool is amazing! }} The two Vaporeon were lounging on a pair of huge reclining surf-chairs that sat beside the newly renovated pool and beach area in the Porter's backyard. The pool, now twice as large and as deep as before, complete with a hot tub, waterfalls, and multicolored LED lightning, was a sight to behold, thanks to the million dollar makeover that the house had gotten, courtesy of Nicole's mother winning a truckload of money on a random scratch off ticket. The Pokemon were waiting for their owners to return, Nicole from a day at the Beya Marine Institute and River from her Ranger training in the Beya Forest with Ruiha. Aqua grinned with delight as she rolled over onto her back, tail swishing happily. {{ The pool is always nice but I'm just glad she kept the beach too! Dewdrop loves it to death. }} Just beyond the pool gates was the mini backyard beach, now a bit shrunk thanks

Indeed there in the doorway was the young model who was absolutely soaked from head to toe. "Wh....what happened?! I thought you had a hotel room!" Ashley came running over. "Heather, get some towels!" Her sister was already on it, running over with two white towels in hand. "Here!" Ashley took them. "What are you doing here?!" "I got caught in the storm..." Maria squeaked, taking the towels and wrapping herself with them. "But the storm started like half a bloody hour ago! Why'd it take you this long to get here??" Sandra asked. The snobbish girl blushed. "I panicked and got lost...then I fell in some mud," she whimpered, now starting to sound like a pathetic sob. Zoey walked over, feeling sorry for her friend. "Can't you teleport? Didn't you say your Poneigh is a psychic type?" Maria nodded as she dragged herself over to the fireplace. "Yeah but Teleport only works with places I've been to. This place is so big." Heather immediately let out Buzzy. "Use Sunny Day, Buzzy," she

"Whoa! This is Kanto?! It's amazing!" Heather's excited outburst resounded through the plane, and the others in the seats around them all shot looks in their direction. Beside her sister in the middle seat, Ashley lowered her head and pulled her red beret a little lower over her brow. "You can see Cerulean City from here! And Cinnabar Island! Wow!" Heather pressed her face into the window more, her enthusiastic shouts fogging the glass. In the seats behind the two blondes, Zoey and Sandra were more well-behaved as they looked out the window to the region below. "Is it true we had relatives over here, big sissie?" Zoey curiously asked her older sibling. Sandra nodded although a bit uncertain as evidenced by her expression. "That's what mumma said when we still had everyone around. But I'm not too sure myself!" she admitted with a sweat drop. In Sandra's lap, both her and Zoey's Parrage were sleeping peacefully together. "Um, excuse me?" Ashley looked up to see a flight
